Job Summary
Canada Christian College and School of Graduate Theological Studies is a leading Christian institution in theological education, committed to preparing students for ministry, scholarship, and service. The College maintains a 30,000-volume physical collection, a separate research collection for on-campus use, and digital resources such as EBSCO ATLA Religion Database, Cambridge Core, and other online research platforms. The college invites applications for a Remote Librarian to oversee library operations and support the ongoing development of both physical and digital collections. This part-time position (1–2 days per week) is ideal for an experienced academic librarian who can effectively manage library resources and personnel from a distance while working with on-campus staff and faculty.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise and support on-campus library assistants in cataloguing, circulation, and collection maintenance.
- Develop and document policies, workflows, and best practices for collection management and acquisitions.
- Provide remote research support to students and faculty via email or virtual consultation.
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to align library holdings with the College’s curriculum and research priorities.
- Recommend and acquire new books and digital resources to strengthen academic programs.
- Oversee organization and cataloguing of the physical and special collections in cooperation with on-site staff.
- Maintain and enhance access to digital databases such as EBSCO ATLA Religion and Cambridge Core.
Educational/Experiential Requirements
- Required: Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Required: Demonstrated alignment with the Christian mission and values of the College.
- Preferred: Experience in an academic or theological library environment.
- Preferred: Familiarity with theological, biblical, and religious studies resources.
