CLC Update

August 2025

Note from the Coordinator

Hello friends!  These last days of summer are wrapping up for most of us as we prepare for the new beginning of a Fall semester. And right around the corner, in September, come several opportunities to save through your CLC membership, as our annual TREN, Galaxie, and EBSCO eBook offers open. Take note of the potential discount increase for TREN subscribers!

We’re also celebrating the impact of the CLC-sponsored ACL Research Awards, which recognized eight outstanding student researchers at seven member institutions this past spring. This benefit not only honors academic excellence, but also helps increase awareness of ACL on campus and provides a meaningful way for your library to be represented at academic award ceremonies. Read more about this year’s award recipients, and consider participating next spring to highlight the great work happening at your institution!

Finally, if your institution participates in or is considering participation in the ACL Reciprocal Borrowing Program, we want to make you aware of some updates to the program that include some expanded membership options. You can view the updated information on the website. Current participants will shortly receive an email inviting them to renew their participation in the updated program.

Favorite CLC Offers: EBSCO eBooks and Perlego subscriptions

“CLC membership has made it possible for us to be able to afford things we never would have been able to purchase on our own. The ability to subscribe to Perlego was a great boon to our ABHE accreditation visit this March.”
Erinn Huebner, University Librarian

CLC members can receive a discount on TREN’s digital library, which includes access to over 25,789 theological thesis and dissertation titles from more than 150 institutions. The current discount is 10% with 31 participating libraries, but if we reach 40 participants, the discount will increase to 15%. Final rates will be determined after September 11.

If your library is already subscribed through this CLC offer, your subscription will automatically renew unless you notify us otherwise. New subscribers are welcome—just use this form to join the group offer.

Participation Deadline – September 11, 2025

Galaxie’s Theological Journal Library (TJL) offers full-text access to 41 conservative, evangelical theological journals—36 of which are already indexed in the Christian Periodical Index (CPI). CPI uniquely indexes 8 of these titles, making it the only source for subject-based searching. Indexing coverage continues to grow, with additional TJL titles currently being added or prioritized. CLC members can subscribe at a discounted rate of 10% off the standard pricing ($10 per student/year, with a $500 minimum and $1,750 maximum). This offer is available to both new and current subscribers. The subscription year runs from September 15, 2025, to September 15, 2026, and the participation deadline is September 11, 2025.

To save 10% on your subscription with your CLC discount, complete the Theological Journal Library ORDER FORM.

Our popular annual EBSCO eBook offer will be opening soon, on September 22! Save up to 30% on curated collections or a la carte orders. We will post more details, including title lists, on the website, as they become available.

 Library Resource Spotlight:
ACL Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Service

The ACL ILL Service is a free, library-to-library resource sharing network that helps libraries—especially small or independent ones—borrow and lend materials without cost. It’s ideal for institutions not part of another consortium or facing hard-to-fill requests.

Key Features:

  • No-cost lending between libraries

  • Supports copyright and licensing best practices

  • Open to any library staff member

  • Especially helpful for libraries without access to other ILL systems

OCLC Users:
CLC members using OCLC WorldShare ILL are encouraged to join the Christian Library Network (CLN) to enhance sharing capabilities.
