Librarian Career
I began my career as a librarian…at The Ohio State University – Lima Branch as a temporary Reference Librarian for 1-year that turned into 2. (It probably really started as a junior-high student library assistant.)
Between the Pages: Getting to Know Our Member of the Month
Describe yourself using a book title: Walking in Grace (Daily Guideposts devotional).
What’s the best thing about being a librarian? Helping others learn, grow, and succeed.
What are you currently reading? I Wish Someone Had Told Me...by Dana Perino; One Year Chronological Bible
How do you as a librarian contribute to your campus or community? I strive to provide an environment and resources that will make everyone feel valued, engaged, supported, encouraged, and successful. My goal is to make the library an active learning hub and center of reading, exploration, and creativity. In short, a place where people and ideas meet.
Do you have any specific interests in the library world? Information literacy instruction; curriculum outreach and resource integration; space planning; and collection development and maintenance. If I ever get the chance, would like to learn how to repair rare books.
What are your hobbies or interests outside of work? Exercising by way of low-impact aerobics, walking, strength training, Essentrics, and stretching. I tend a huge perennial flower garden. I love to travel, cook, and read.
ACL Involvement
How were you introduced to ACL? I honestly cannot remember. It seems like I may have seen an advertisement for it. Attending annual conference really helps me learn more about what ACL has to offer and connects me to its members.
Describe ACL in three words: Professional; Supportive; Encouraging
What do you value about ACL? The practical support the members provide one another. The annual conference for professional growth, networking, and positive spiritual encouragement, support, and prayer.
How are you or have you been involved in ACL? I currently serve as the Spiritual Encouragement Team Coordinator and have previously had the joy of serving as a mentor within ACL. Since 2017, I’ve participated in the Annual Conference—both in-person and virtually—through 2023. Over the years, I’ve been privileged to contribute in a variety of ways, including presenting a virtual poster, serving as a panelist, co-presenter, and workshop presenter.
I’m also excited to be a member of the 2026 ACL Conference Planning Team. In addition, I’ve contributed book reviews for The Christian Librarian and written a Reference Point devotional. My involvement has also extended to several of ACL’s interest groups, where I’ve appreciated the opportunity to connect with others and grow professionally and spiritually.
